See how we adapt and tailor our music lessons for students who have special needs, including Autism & more.
At Malena's Music & More we strive to individualize all classes, tailored to students' strengths, interests, and opportunities. We offer an interactive, hands-on approach to learning that challenges students while having fun. We love working with students who have challenges and/or special needs, including Autism! We believe that everyone has the right & the ability to learn and grow, and that everyone should have an equal opportunity!
We have years of experience working with students who have special needs,
including but not limited to:
Our homeschool teachers use proven & solid techniques with special needs students, including Autism, to work on coping skills, redirection, focus, memory, concentration, & more during class as needed. Class assignments and expectations are adjusted as needed for each student to achieve success and enjoy learning. Most classes are held in Limerick, Maine; we are working on online attendance options for all classes. Please let us know if you're interested in online attendance and which class(es) so we can prioritize them for you!
The Freelance Homeschooler, HollyAnne Dustin, runs many of our homeschool classes! We're so fortunate to have a partner who truly understands differing learning styles, special needs (including Autism), and adaptability! She has over 20 years of homeschooling experience and is a tremendous asset to us!
SPED Homeschool has a wealth of partners, materials, and resources for special needs homeschooling families (including Autism)! We are very proud to be one of their partners!
We have compiled a list of agencies and services in Maine to help people with Special Needs. If you have a suggestion of an agency or service to add, please let us know! We're always increasing our resources list.
"My son faces a number of mental health and psychosocial special needs challenges, so it is very heartening for him to be able to connect with someone... as committed, patient, & understanding as Malena... His self image & confidence is increasing... I highly recommend this teacher."

People with special needs and/or Autism who were on Malena's caseload at Living Innovations (or their children) who have expressed interest are welcome to register for classes/lessons one year after discharging from her caseload to uphold ethical social worker guidelines. Thank you for your understanding.
